Modality

The student is expected to carry out a scientific research project in order to write a thesis or a complete research report , and a scientific paper to be published in an indexed journal. This modality aims at making the student be able to identify, formulate and execute a research project, applying objectivity and rigor principles in order to achieve the production, transference and/or innovative application of a scientific knowledge.

The student is expected to develop a review/applied work in order to construe a portfolio of innovative pedagogical practices and a paper of theoretical reflection to be published in an idexed journal. This modality aims at making the student be able to apply in an appropriate way the principles already theoretically proved for achiving the production, transference and/or innovative application of a scientific knowledge  

The Master Program of Education of the Universidad del Norte aims at responding to the social commitment to education and the ongoing quality improvement of it. The program is focused on the teacher’s performance, regarding him/herself and the processes taking place in the classroom and other social contexts, considering the pedagogical practice as the basis of his/her transformation.

The Master of Education degree requires the completion of 46 credits, of which 25 corresponds to General courses and 21 to the Emphasis Research courses. Besides, students have to write a thesis to obtain his/her Master degree. General courses cover global aspects related to pedagogy and education problems. Emphasis Research courses are the scenario in which students and tutors deal with the cognitive, theoretical and axiological elements of a particular area of education (e.g. Cognition ad Education, Media Applied to Education, Childhood Education, Mathematic Thinking, Language and Pedagogical Practices), and the tutor supports, conceptually and methodologically, the writing of the master thesis.
