Founded in 1966 in the city of Barranquilla, the Universidad del Norte (Uninorte) is an institution dedicated to the well-rounded development of the individual at the higher education level especially in the Colombian Caribbean region.


The university provides an environment of creative education and a campus where students can become better people, can learn from the best and brightest teachers, and can make a positive difference in the community, the nation and the world.

Services for International Students

  • Uninorte students chosen to serve as personal guides for the adaptation of international students to the campus and the city during their entire stay.
  • Uninorte offers complementary program (free of charge) to improve their language communication through the main language skills: speaking, writing, reading and listening.
  • Medical Center on Campus Uninorte offers basic health care services for students in case of injury or illness.
  • Uninorte offers Security talks in alliance with the National Police, in order to receive important information about security in Colombia and in the city
  • Housing: Support in housing arrangements, monitored by Uninorte Staff. Different types of homestay. Rentals with other international students.
  • Multicultural activities: Uninorte arranges a variety of cultural and recreational activities to foster integration of international students into the Caribbean life.
  • Our support staff is available to answer student queries 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Uninorte supports international students to with migration authorities to legalize their stay in the country.
